Argentine Tango: Our Philosophy

As a result of their interdependent nature, or perhaps as a result of the need to know oneself, human beings seek to connect with others.  Tango, as an intimate and yet openly social dance, stimulates this connection and helps us increase our sensitivity, in order to make deeper and deeper contact with the other and with ourselves.

For us, tango is a social art of creation and expression.  With Tango, we connect to share the creation of movement,  movement which is an expression of our vibration, of who we are in a particular moment in time.

Based on this, Maral & Mariano put emphasis on several key concepts in their dancing and teaching, which include:
  1. Connection -which is fundamental to truly dance.
  2. Technique - which frees us to be able to create and express with grace, precision and elegance.
  3. Organic Movement - which means being true to the energy and direction of  movement,  so that the dance is not forces, faked or uncomfortable.
  4. Originality - which is found through experimentation, play, liberation and acceptance, in order for each person to find ones own dance, ones own 'style' that is as unique as you or I.
  5. Improvisation - which is the essence of Tango, combining all the above elements to allow the dance to happen through us, allow the flow of movement to take new form for us to discover as we create.

The beauty of tango is felt when, through our presence we give life to the form and this in turn gives to us a sense of aliveness. This is what for us is 'the passion' of Tango.
